Travel scheme for all 16-18 year old students

Reading College and Reading Buses are providing student aged 16-18 with subsidised travel on Reading Buses. This is slightly different to the bursary (see below) because this is available to all Reading College students aged 16-18, no matter what your household income is. For further details contact our Advice Centre on 0800 371 434. We regret that these subsidies aren’t currently available for students aged 19 or over. Though they may still qualify for support with travel cost (19+ travel bursary).

If you are travelling by bus, you might want to contact your local bus operator to check if they have any discount schemes in place, or to find out about the cost of weekly, monthly or yearly tickets, which might make your travel costs cheaper.

Students who regularly travel by train may also want to consider applying for a 16-25 Railcard – which is also available for full-time students to save up 1/3 on rail fares. Further information is available on www.16-25railcard.co.uk. Note: there are restrictions on discounts when travelling before 10am.

Travel bursaries

Reading College is introducing a Travel Bursary for students aged 16-18 and for students aged 19 or over. Funds are limited and early application is advised.

Car parking

We have a large car park at Reading College. We do have a small number of visitor spaces in the car park but most cars need to have a parking permit. You can apply for these from the college - please speak to our reception desk on enrolment.

If you have any special requirements for parking - such as disabled access, please call 0800 371 434 or speak to our reception desk when at the college.
