Learning support and inclusion

We are a totally inclusive college who welcomes everybody. So, whatever barriers to learning you may have, we are here to help you reach your full potential.

Who are our services for?

We offer a wide range of support to students with learning needs and disabilities, including:

  • General learning difficulties
  • Hearing impairment
  • Visual impairment
  • Dyslexia
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
  • Physical disabilities
  • Mental health issues (such as depression, anxiety, bipolar, paranoid illness, schizophrenia, etc.)
  • Tourettes

How can we help you?

We offer a wide range of support services, individually tailored to meet your needs. Some of the services available are:

  • Support clinics - One to one meetings with inclusion team to identify additional needs and support. This service is available to anyone with additional needs.
  • ASD centre - Students who need a high level of ASD support can be referred by Local Authorities to our ASD Centre. All students are supported one to one
  • Support plans tailored to each individual's needs
  • Dyslexia service, offering small group learning, exam concession assessment and one to one work. 
  • Dedicated student coaches for maths and English 
  • Learning Support Assistants (LSAs) work with students who have been identified as requiring a high level of support, either one to one or in the classroom
  • One to one coaching sessions for students with additional needs, as and when required
  • Signposting to other services in the college, such as counselling and pastoral support
  • Total communication team: including professional British Sign Language interpreters, communication support workers, deafblind communicator guides, electronic and manual notetakers and awareness trainers
  • Our cross-college transition panel will ensure that every student is on the right course ('right student, right course' policy)
  • Support for parents is available through Beth Webster, Learning support and inclusion manager
