Personal tutorial support

All full-time further education students at Reading College have a Personal Tutor.
At the start of the course your tutor will:
- provide you with a warm welcome and an introduction to the College, its services and facilities
- explain the Tutorial Entitlement and the rights and responsibilities of a Reading College student
- record your individual qualifications, achievements, experience and interests on entering college
- monitor that you have started a programme of study that is right for you
- working with you to set initial individual targets and action plans
- discuss your career intentions and how they can be achieved.
Throughout the course your tutor will:
- provide help and advice when needed
- review your progress in order to update your targets and action plans within your Individual Learning Plan
- communicate with other relevant staff to inform the review process
- if necessary, helping you to contact Student Services or Additional Learning Support staff
- for students who are under 18 years of age, keep parents or guardians informed of your progress and developments
- for students who are sponsored by their employer, keeping that employer informed of your progress and developments.
Towards the end of the course your tutor will:
- help you make informed decisions about future education and career options
- help you update your CVs and produce personal statements
- collect information on progress and achievements from course and subject tutors
- provide a personal and academic reference when required by prospective universities, colleges or employers
- confirm with you your success and destination after leaving Reading College.
