Pathfinder - Art and Design

Pathfinder - Art and Design course is the perfect springboard to a degree course or a career change.

The course is designed to provide you with a fundamental understanding of the basic approaches to core Art and Design techniques and practices. It will help you gain the essential skills to potentially progress on to a full-time course.

Our college can provide you with an inspiring learning environment to build a portfolio of your very best work.
Enrolment on the course guarantees an interview on one of our Foundation Degree or degree level courses.

What do I learn?
During your course, you will be introduced to a range of core Art and Design practices including drawing, photography, and printmaking.
You will expand your knowledge and understanding of the general principles unique to each subject, as well as enhance your practical skills and develop your creative abilities.
What do I gain?
You will gain the necessary basic skills in each of the subject areas outlined previously (drawing, photography, and printmaking), as well as creating a portfolio of practical artwork.
This will enable you to progress more easily on to the full-time Access to HE Art and Design course.
What do I need?
As this is a short introductory course, a background in arts is not essential.
However, learners will benefit from having an open mind and possessing a willingness to be experiential and creative.
What do I gain?
Following successful completion of this course, you can progress on to the following courses:
Art and Design Access to Higher Education Diploma,
Art and Design UAL (University of Arts London) Level 1 Diploma,
Art and Design UAL (University of Arts London) Level 2 Diploma,
Art and Design UAL (University of Arts London) Level 3/4 Foundation Diploma (pre-degree)
What else do I need to know?
Please bring a notebook or an A4 sketchbook with you on your first day so that you can begin to document your learning and any techniques, processes or terminology you may be introduced to.
Other materials will be provided and included in the course fee.
