Parents

We would like to extend a warm welcome to all parents, carers and guardians of young people studying, or hoping to study, at Reading College.

For many young people, coming to Reading College means making a new start, meeting new people and facing new challenges. As a college, we are committed to supporting our students throughout their time here, and we value our relationship with their parents, guardians and carers.

The college has an excellent range of services that can support and advise students as they prepare to meet the challenges of the wider world. Whether they want to find employment, get further training or head to university, our team will make sure they make an informed choice about where to go.

Students can discuss their career development with their Personal Tutor, with their Course Tutors, or with our Advice Centre.

Reading College has superb links with local businesses, which means that there are many opportunities to carry out work experience placements to complement a student’s studies.

Employability

Students will be able to combine and apply practical skills with the knowledge and theory acquired from their course, which will leave them ’a cut above the rest’ in obtaining full-time employment in today’s fiercely competitive market.

For those seeking further opportunities to study, it is worth considering that last year, hundreds of our students gained places at universities across the country.

Further help and opportunities to visit us

Please have a look through our full-time prospectus which will give you a lot of information about us, the facilities and the wide range of courses available. You can also come along to an open evening to find out more, have a tour of the facilities and meet academic staff.

Reading College seeks to create links between the tutor and student's parents or guardians. Where there is a matter of concern over the student's work, we will involve parents to help draw up an action plan. Student attendance is also monitored and we may contact parents if there is a problem.

Most courses have a parents' evening once a term giving parents, students and tutors the opportunity to review progress.
