Reading College Launch Employment Shop

Employment shop

Reading College is delighted to announce the launch of its new Employment Shop.

The shop opened by Principal Lesley Donoghue, will allow employers to advertise their jobs for free to all Reading College students. The adverts will be displayed in the shop window and there will be an area for self-serve employability resources.

There will also be a brand new job search facility which will enable students to access all the vacancies and resources online.

Carol Endersby, Student Services Manager, said, “We are very excited about the launch of the shop. It will offer a high profile area where students can browse the latest job vacancies and receive help from qualified advisers with CVs and covering letters. This new venture will enable students to gain valuable experience, increasing their all-round employability skills.”

The shop reflects the college’s sharper focus on supporting students’ progression into employment, and has been backed up by the launch of a wide range of ‘Get that Job’ courses.

These flexible free short courses, which start throughout the year, aim to help get unemployed jobseekers back into work by providing the knowledge and skills that employers demand. Further information of the courses on offer can be found at www.reading-college.ac.uk/fastforwardintowork .

Debbie Ferguson, Head of Adult and Community Development, said “This is a fantastic opportunity to work with our partners in the community to help unemployed jobseekers get the skills they need to ‘Get that Job’. We’ve already had a great uptake, with over 100 students attending these courses.”
