Reading College Student Reps Launch

Reading College wants to ensure its students have a voice within the college, which will allow for a positive impact on improving the college and the services available to them.

One way of doing this is having Student Reps. A key role for our Student Reps is communicating between students and staff at the college, acting as a channel for sharing their class mates’ opinions and to actively involve them with issues the college wants to take forward.

After recruiting 99 new Student Reps this academic year, a launch was held last week as a chance for the Reps to meet each other and members of staff.

Principal Lesley Donoghue said, “This is a great opportunity for students to really get involved in shaping the college, a chance to make a real difference for themselves, their peers and future students too. Also they will develop whilst in this role which will be valuable to them in their future, whether moving onto higher education or into the workplace.”

Student Reps in the past at Reading College have achieved: an increase in open access to PCs, locks for bicycles available for students, water fountains throughout the college and more seating areas for students.
