What do I learn?
Health and safety, creative hair design, body art, media, fashion and photographic make-up airbrush techniques, and application of prosthetic pieces.
This course is taught using presentations, demonstrations, workshops, and participation in shows photo shoots and competitions. Home study, project work and research are also required. You will be assessed in your practical work and sit online assessments for your knowledge tests. You will build a portfolio as evidence of your assessments and pictures of your work for future employment.
What do I gain?
You will learn the skills needed to work in many different roles within the hair and make-up industry. You could alternatively go on to a career in training and assessment. You will also gain work experience that will give you confidence to find employment once you have completed the course.
What do I need?
Level 2 Hair and Media Make-up Diploma. Ideally Level 2 in English and maths, functional skills (if not these will be included in your course). You need to be well presented, creative, have good communication skills, and show that you are focussed and committed to this industry.
What can I do next?
Depending on your other achievements you could go on to higher education to specialise in the different applications of make-up design. You will be able to go on to hair and beauty courses to enable you to work in a salon environment. This course also prepares you to become a freelance make-up artist.

The fee for international students for the 2016 entrance is £6,300 per year.
