How to apply and practise tests

All prospective apprentices, who are not already employed, are required to sit and pass a Numeracy and Literacy initial assessment as part of the Apprenticeship application. Most of this is IT based. If you are interested in an Apprenticeship programme for yourself and would like more information, please contact the Employer Services team on 0845 467 6068 or email employer-enquiries@reading-college.ac.uk.
For those already in employment and aged over 19 years who are undertaking an Apprenticeship for personal development reasons, you will need to complete a pre enrolment form to gauge your Numeracy and Literacy competence.
Practice Tests
As part of the selection process for Apprenticeships you will be asked to sit a Literacy and Numeracy initial assessment. For Construction, Plumbing and Motor Vehicle Apprenticeships there is an additional assessment exercise.
After the initial assessment
You will be invited to an interview where the results of your initial assessment will be used to guide you to a suitable programme of learning. Prospective apprentices will need to find an employer for the work-based elements of the Apprenticeship, informing the Apprenticeship Team Administrator (0845 467 6068) when this has been achieved.
