The Employment and Careers Team, in partnership with Connexions, offer impartial careers information, advice and guidance to students at Reading College, along with supporting students finding employment and work experience placements.

Guidance

Individual guidance from a qualified careers adviser for help with your decisions whether they involve employment or further study.

  • 15 minute drop-in sessions for quick queries such as CV or UCAS queries, open Monday to Friday 12pm – 2pm (term time)
  • Booked careers guidance appointments (for Reading College students).

Employment Shop

  • Support placing students into employment
  • Vacancy bulletins to help students find employment
  • Talks and events such as the annual options event.

Work Experience

  • Materials to help students find work placements, CV templtes and covering letters
  • Database of employers offering work experience
  • Work experience preparation workshops.

Careers information library

  • For staff on careers and employability workshops
  • Computer packages – JED, Adult Directions, Careers Express, Higher Ideas
  • Handouts and reference books on a wide range of careers
  • DVDs - with viewing facilities
  • University prospectuses, postgraduate directories, information on part-time and full-time courses
  • Job search resources.

Connexions support young people aged 13-19 with making choices and knowing what your options are, with course/training and career choices, along with supporting you with more personal issues, such as homelessness, relationships or other issues which are affecting your choices and progress.
