Accessing Potential


Accessing Potential is primarily for  year 11 students more suited to learning in a college environment.

The scheme is run in partnership with the Central Berkshire Education Business Partnership (CBEBP) and is available to most schools in the greater Reading area.

Personal support on Accessing Potential

Each young person on Accessing Potential is given a key worker to give support both in school and in college. They will:

  • act as your spokesperson if needed
  • help you plan for your future
  • be on hand to deal with specific issues
  • attend a tutorial lessons in school fortnightly, where you can raise any concerns you may have
  • liaise with school about your schoolwork to ensure that your day out at college is not getting in the way of your GCSE studies.

Programme outline

  • Summer term in Year 10 – tasters in up to five subjects
  • Autumn/Spring term in Year 11 – three, eight week courses in three chosen subjects
  • activity days
  • residential and outward-bound course (Spring term).
