Our well equipped vocational teaching areas provide a realistic working environment in which to hone your skills for your specific industry sector. Facilities include a technology centre, visual arts studios and workshops, performing arts studios, engineering workshops, training kitchens and salons.

Technology Centre and Construction Training

The construction workshops offer specialist facilities for bricklaying and building services, plastering, plumbing, gas installation, heating and ventilation, painting and decorating, wall and floor tiling and wood trades. The motor vehicle workshops include mechanical workshops and a body shop and there are also laboratories for engineering.

Art, Design and Fashion Studios

Our art and design studios and workshops offer facilities for jewellery, ceramics, sculpture, 3D modelling, silkscreen and textile printing as well as fashion studios with specialist areas for knitting, sewing and pattern cutting.

Digital Zone

Media facilities include large photographic and moving image studios, Apple Mac digital manipulation computer suites together with traditional darkroom facilities, and professional camera and lighting equipment. Our media courses provide TV and video resources and edit facilities that support student film productions. We have our own radio station Blast, which broadcasts on 1386am across the college or you can visit the website www.blast1386.com  to listen live.

Performing Arts facilities

As well as a live performance space we have five fully-equipped band rehearsal rooms, ProTools-based recording studios and soundproof practice booths. Our performing arts spaces feature facilities for acting and theatre production and include a professional dance studio and performance space. We also have links with local theatre companies and regularly make use of these facilities for our productions.

IT resources

Internet and e-mail facilities are available and free to all enrolled students, with over 500 PCs across the IT suites.

Every classroom has a dedicated PC and ceiling-mounted digital projector, and informal on-campus cyber cafés also provide open access to computers.
 

Sixth Form Centre

The Sixth Form Centre is our dedicated learning centre for AS, A level, Science and GCSE study. All staff teaching in the Sixth Form Centre are subject specialists, many of whom have examining experience as well. Many of the subjects are taught in subject-specific rooms or science laboratories.

Food Court

Hot and cold food is available throughout the day from the food outlets and hot meals are available daily at lunchtimes. There are also vending machines for snacks and hot and cold drinks.

Study Zone

• Access to electronic resources, databases, books, newspapers, magazines and CDs, videos and DVDs.
• Study space for individual or small group work.
• Computer facilities including e-mail, online databases and other electronic resources with facility to reserve a computer up to seven days in advance.
• Scanning, printing and photocopying facilities are also available.
